Prinville, MROP, Cowboy Christmas, Colorado & Wyoming

Hello Oregon Rodeo Fans!

It is my pleasure to share my stories and pictures of my travels with you as well as represent this amazing state we live in and its great rodeos! I left you in Sisters, Oregon on my last blog entry...so that means we will pick back up in Cowboy Capital of Oregon-Prineville! The Crooked River Round Up was the last rodeo I attended in June right before my big July run of rodeos both in and out of state! Hope you enjoy all of my pictures and please feel free to leave a comment or two as well!

Crooked River Round Up
June 25th - 28th
Prineville, Oregon

Meeting the Mayor of Prineville right before we head out to drive cattle down Main Street! Me, Shay Perry the 2009 Crooked River Round Up Queen, and Kami Smith the Santiam Canyon Stampede Queen = 3 cowgirls ready and willing to push cows!

This was our pen of steers and one HUGE long horn! He had an 8 foot spread from one horn to the other....pretty impressive! There is a funny story about this picture. Right after this picture was taken the cattle decided to take a hard right into the Dairy Queen parking lot that was full of cars. The only way to get the herd out safely was to push them through the drive thru! Some called it a suicide note-Hamburger? It was pretty funny to watch and take part in. We drove the 20 steers and 1 long horn about four miles through town back to the rodeo grounds! The cattle drive down Main Street is just one way Prineville kicks off their rodeo! The other is an annual BBQ complete with a band, beverages, great people and of course a little swing dancing!

Stick Horse Races!
Shay's Sister, Amorita Patterson, Kami Smith, Shay and I spreading the word of Rodeo! While giving out free tickets and beer chits on the way...needless to say everyone in the town of Prineville loved us that day.

Kami and I on our way to the Queens Scholarship Barrel Race!
What a great time we had along with the rest of the visiting royalty. Crooked River Round Up Queen Shay Perry raised awards to give out, from Impact Gel Pads, ball caps, and gift certificates. The proceeds made from the barrel race went towards the Crooked River Round Up Queens Annual Scholarship.

This was Oakleys very first time running barrels, he did a good job for being 17 hands on a short barrel pattern. I was proud, he tried...his turns were a little wide but we had a lot of fun!

A very special thank you to the Crooked River Round Up Board of Directors and Amorita Patterson for lining up all the events I attended, worked at, and promoted rodeo during. I had a great time in Prineville, there was always a warm welcome, strong handshakes, and friendly smiles with every event I attended or new person I met!

What an awesome grand entry and posting of the colors!
Cowboy Christmas was a crazy run of 3 awesome Oregon Rodeos! I am so proud to say we draw in a lot of the nations greatest cowboy and cowgirl talents, but I am even more proud to say our own Oregon cowboy, Bareback rider from Culver, Oregon, Mr. Bobby Mote won the most money over Cowboy Christmas estimating a total $29,926! He won all of this in 4 States and 1 Canadian Providence all over the 4th of July weekend...Yes we are pretty proud to call Bobby our Oregon Cowboy
Just a few days after Cowboy Christmas I hopped on a plane to Colorado!
Colorado Springs that is! For the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo, 2009 Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame Inductions, and a Clinic put on by the Miss Rodeo America Board.

Don Gay

Every cowgirls dream....one day that chute will be mine!

Legendary Gene Autry...I love Gene, his style, attitude, everything! If you cant tell I stole a part of his style for my year as Miss Rodeo Oregon...My bit is a pistol, he used one just like it back in the day. Exciting I know, or maybe it just is exciting to me because I am a goof ball and love anything retro western.
After touring the Hall of Fame it was time for the 2009 Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame Inductions. It was such an honor to attend and see the history and meet the legends. Definitely a once in a life time experience.

What an event!

After the Pikes Peak Rodeo and Hall of Fame inductions, I spent one more week in Colorado Springs and the PRCA Headquarters learning more about rodeo, the western way of life, behind the scenes of the PRCA and touching up on skills for this December when I compete for the Coveted title of Miss Rodeo America.

Cheyenne Frontier Days
July 21st - 23rd
Cheyenne, Wyoming

Just a day or two after Colorado I was on a plane to Wyoming!
A very small plane...smallest I've ever flown on...

Even smaller on the inside...haha...this made me nervous but I made it to Cheyenne in one piece even after every bump and drop of the plane!

As soon as I got off the plane I went straight to the Rodeo!
